ISET includes functions to generate many different types of test targets that can be used to measure and characterize system performance. The scene functions create spatial patterns to assess spatial resolution, uniform targets to assess signal to noise, color charts to measure color-rendering accuracy, high dynamic range scenes to evaluate sensor and algorithm processing.
Many of the functions produce targets designed to calculate industry standard metrics (e.g., acutance, ISO 12233, CIELAB error, color rendering index). Each of these targets includes full scene spectral radiance as well as a scene spectral illumination.
In addition, ISET includes a large set of spectral radiance data for natural scenes and human faces. These scenes help engineers evaluate and understand system performance for many important types of imaging conditions.
